Azteca Horses Australasia is the first official registry for the Azteca Horse Breed here in Australia and New Zealand. We are a small association of dedicated horse breeders and owners that have come together to promote and stand for the recognition of the Australasian Azteca Horse. By opening this registry we hope to encourage those who own and love this unique breed to join us in raising the profile of this special horse breed here in our own country.

There is no cost to apply to have your horse recorded in the AAz registry. Simply fill out the online form by clicking on the "Register your Azteca" button on the home page and submit it.

We are dividing the registry into only two categories to save confusion and to allow for more registrations of quality horses that deserve to be recognized.

The two categories for registration are Australasian Azteca (AAz) and Australasian Azteca Breeding Approved (AAzBA).

The Australasian Azteca or AAz registry is open to well-conformed, sound minded horses that are a proven mix of Spanish horse blood with Quarter Horse or Paint horse blood.

You need to have or know the registration details of the sire and dam of your Australasian Azteca. The sire and dam need to be studbook recorded in the studbook of their own breed. You can enter these details into the online registration form after becoming a member. There is no cost to register your horse in the AAz online registry.

If you would like to apply for the breeding approved registration catergory (AAzBA) there will be fees involved as well as inspection assessment before approval. Breeding approved status allows you to register future progeny from your registered Australasian Azteca's.

We will accept the following studbooks and registries for parentage conformation:

  • AHAA (Andalusian Horse Association of Australasia)
  • ANCCE (The National Association of Purebred Spanish Horse Breeders of Spain)
  • PREAA (Pura Raza Espanola Association of Australasia)
  • LHAA (Lusitano Association of Australasia)
  • IALHA (International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association)
  • PHAA (Australian Paint Horse Association)
  • AQHA (Australian Quarter Horse Association)
  • AAHIA (American Azteca Horse International Association)

The AzHA is very keen to support those who want to have the Azteca horse breed recognized and supported here in Australia. Please contact us by email or via our Facebook page if you have any questions or need more information.

Welcome to the AzHA!
